Since 2014, I’ve been interviewing and photographing Americans with jobs that are in danger of becoming obsolete in the United States, some very soon.
The book I’m writing with economist EeCheng Ong uses these interviews to foreground workers in the story of our economy and how it’s changing. Economics textbooks offer the big picture on automation, globalization, and trade. Our project complements that understanding with in-depth conversations with real people who’ve witnessed the shifts firsthand.
